Software Engineer

Location: Derby - On-site (5 days a week)

Salary: Up to £40,000

Contract: Permanent

A Software Engineer is required to join a delivery-focused engineering team working on the development of modern, full-stack applications for a key client environment. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with end users and stakeholders, contributing directly to the design, build and improvement of production systems. The work is delivered in a collaborative, agile setting, with a strong emphasis on clean code, secure development and engineering best practice.

Due to the nature of the work, this role is site-based in Derby and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• 1 year+ of experience as a software engineer
• Design, build and maintain full-stack web applications using modern Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask) and JavaScript/TypeScript in React
• Develop and manage SQL-based data models across relational databases
• Work within an Agile team, contributing to stand‑ups, sprint planning and retrospectives
• Apply secure development practices, including OWASP standards and authentication protocols
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployments
• Participate in code reviews and support continuous improvement of engineering processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders in a client‑facing delivery environment
• Maintain familiarity with Docker, Linux, Azure DevOps, or other modern tooling where applicable
