Teacher of Sociology – Sixth Form (ASAP Start)

We are supporting a high‑performing sixth form college seeking a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Sociology to join their team on a maternity cover basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a subject specialist who is passionate about sixth form education and committed to delivering high‑quality teaching that supports outstanding student outcomes.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging, high‑quality Sociology lessons that inspire ambition and promote independent learning.
  • Teach across sixth form programmes, ensuring strong subject knowledge and curriculum delivery.
  • Plan and deliver well‑structured lessons in line with schemes of work.
  • Develop high‑quality resources that challenge and support all learners.
  • Use formative and summative assessment effectively to monitor progress and improve outcomes.
  • Provide regular, constructive feedback to students.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding at all times.
Tutor Responsibilities
  • Act as a tutor to a group of students, supporting both academic and personal development.
  • Monitor attendance, effort, and progress, liaising with parents where concerns arise.
  • Deliver the Personal Development Programme during tutorial time.
  • Prepare high‑quality UCAS references and meet internal deadlines.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate attendance and assessment records.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
  • Attend meetings, parents' evenings, and open events.
  • Contribute to enrichment and complementary studies programmes.
  • Provide short‑term cover within the department when required.
  • Engage in CPD, appraisal, and quality assurance processes.
