Job summary

A regional children's service provider is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Services team in Northampton. The role involves managing safeguarding cases from initial transfer through to closure, performing statutory assessments, and developing child protection plans. Job description

Northamptonshire Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Services. This team manages cases transferred from DAAT at the first Initial Child Protection Conference or Child in Need meeting and holds them until closure. If cases escal to court or long‑term care, they transfer to our Children in Care Teams., Manage safeguarding cases from initial transfer through to closure.

Responsibilities
  • Manage safeguarding cases from initial transfer through to closure.
  • Undertake statutory assessments and visits in line with child protection and CIN requirements.
  • Develop and review child protection and child in need plans.
  • Prepare reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings when required.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi‑agency professionals.
  • Respond flexibly to service needs, including office‑based work up to 5 days per week.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with policy and legislation.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Strong safeguarding experience and ability to manage complex cases.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report‑writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and hit the ground running.
