Job Title: Locum Social Worker Manager – Youth Justice Services Practitioner Team
Location: Vale of Glamorgan, UK
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the Youth Justice Services Practitioner Team, ensuring high-quality support and safeguarding for children and young people.
To contribute to strategic and operational management of youth justice services within the Vale of Glamorgan.
To provide professional guidance, oversight, and development opportunities for staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day operational and strategic management of Youth Justice Services, ensuring accessibility for children and young people.
- Manage casework responsibilities, oversee risk assessments, and supervise decision-making within the Youth Justice Early Support Service (YJESS).
- Implement and review Council policies and Youth Justice Service plans, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
- Ensure the availability of out-of-court services, diversion, prevention, and post-court support for children and youth.
- Provide court reports, including Pre-Sentence Reports, to support informed sentencing decisions in line with National Standards.
- Oversee the quality of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Supervision within the Assetplus Framework.
- Analyse complex data to balance public protection, safeguarding, and development priorities.
- Manage the YJESS duty system to ensure consistent service delivery both in and out of office hours.

Essential Requirements:
- Experienced social worker with leadership or managerial experience in youth justice or related services.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, National Standards for Youth Justice, and the Assetplus Framework.
- Ability to manage complex cases and provide professional supervision to staff.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
