The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide advanced level direct social work services and mental health treatment in the school setting to the special population of children and adolescents. This involves consultation with other treatment providers, school personnel, and professionals in the community. The social worker will conduct biopsychosocial assessments with students, clients, and their families to evaluate the nature and degree of needs; develop a treatment plan; and provide ongoing mental health therapy and/or referrals as deemed indicated by the assessment. Therapy may be individual, family or group and include case management and some Tier 2 behavioral services. The social worker may occasionally conduct therapy sessions via telehealth or home visits when school is closed or if a student cannot come to school for an extended time. The social worker will also keep accurate and timely documentation according to COMAR as well as provide data necessary for reports to funding sources.
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers. Experience: Four years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work, including two years experience in an area of clinical specialty.
