Overview

Social Work Team Manager within the Family Support & Safeguarding Team based in Barking & Dagenham. This full-time locum position offers a competitive hourly rate of £45.20, providing you with the opportunity to manage and lead a dedicated team to make a real impact.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership and day-to-day management of a team of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Family Support Workers.
• Ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures relating to child safeguarding, family support, and statutory assessments.
• Oversee and quality assure all aspects of casework, ensuring timely and effective interventions and permanency planning.
• Manage performance through supervision, appraisal, case audits, and reflective practice to maintain high professional standards.
• Lead on complex cases, offering expert advice, guidance, and decision-making in line with statutory responsibilities.
• Collaborate with partner agencies including health, education, police, and legal services to achieve better outcomes for children and families.
• Chair key meetings such as strategy discussions, legal gateway panels, and permanency planning meetings as appropriate.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that the service is Ofsted-ready and aligned with the council’s improvement plans.
• Manage budgets, resources, and staff deployment effectively.
• Contribute to service planning, inspection readiness, workforce development, and quality assurance.
