Role Overview:
As the Social Work Team Manager, you will provide strong operational and professional leadership within the Child Protection Service. You will ensure high-quality safeguarding practice, effective statutory intervention, and robust risk management while supporting and developing your team to deliver excellent outcomes for children and families.

What You Will Do:

Lead, manage, and support a team of Social Workers and Senior Social Workers within Child Protection.

Provide regular reflective supervision, performance management, and professional development support.

Manage workloads and capacity to ensure safe, timely, and effective practice.

Maintain oversight of complex and high-risk child protection cases, ensuring sound decision-making and risk management.

Chair or contribute to strategy discussions, legal planning meetings, and complex case reviews.

Undertake case audits and contribute to quality assurance and service improvement processes.

Work closely with police, health, education, and other safeguarding partners.

Represent the service at multi-agency forums and contribute to local safeguarding arrangements.

Qualifications:

Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW).

Registration with Social Work England (SWE) – mandatory.

Experience:

Extensive post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care.

Significant experience within Child Protection and safeguarding services.

Proven experience in a management or supervisory role is essential.
