Job summary

A leading aerospace company in the UK is seeking an experienced GEO Payload Hardware Design Engineer to join their team. Job description

Overview

We\'re looking for an experienced GEO Payload Hardware Design Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the development of advanced satellite telecommunication payloads. This is a chance to work at the cutting edge of space technology, contributing to innovative solutions for high-reliability applications in orbit.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop FPGA/ASIC-based GEO satellite payloads
• Lead hardware development throughout the full product lifecycle—from specification and design through to testing and validation
• Undertake detailed circuit design including schematic capture, component selection, and electronic simulation
• Produce engineering analysis and documentation (Derating, Worst Case, Reliability, Radiation, EMI/EMC Analysis, FMECA, Power Budget)
• Support hardware/software/system integration, test, validation, and qualification
• Direct in-house and third-party PCB layout design teams
• Deliver both prototype and production-quality manufacturing packages

Experience

• Strong commercial experience in hardware product design within the space industry
• Expertise in high-speed digital design and SerDes interconnects
• Strong understanding of LEO/GEO communications payloads
• Proven experience designing complex, high-speed circuits on high-density, multi-layer (10+) PCBs
• Proficiency with circuit and PCB design/simulation tools
• Specialist knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
• High-reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc.)
• RF design and validation
• Radiation effects on electronic circuitry and mitigation techniques
• DC/DC power supply design
• Environmental, thermal, safety, and EMI/EMC standards
• Practical use of scripting languages (Tcl, Python, Perl, etc.)
