Job Overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a Band 5 role within the Paediatric Neuro Sleep Service. The position involves home sleep study services and inpatient sleep studies, with home and inpatient studies conducted by a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Co‑manage the home sleep service with other Sleep Technicians and Physiologists.
  • Work a minimum of three night shifts per month recording PSG studies.
  • Analyse and provide specialist interpretation of sleep study results for clinicians.
  • Assist in the training and support of new team members.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including night shifts.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Scientific knowledge acquired through formal training to a Healthcare Science BSc (Respiratory) or equivalent level.
  • Experience working in a Sleep or Respiratory Physiology Laboratory or similar clinical environment.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, assessing and intervening as necessary to ensure patient safety.
  • Good organisational skills and effective time management.
  • Computer literate and comfortable with respiratory equipment.
Desirable Criteria
  • Relevant clinical experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of carrying out sleep studies.
  • Experience in the care and maintenance of respiratory and sleep equipment, including ventilators.
