Site Technician — Stone/Site Based, UK travel. Permanent role with a competitive salary + benefits.

VIQU have partnered with a leading technology integrator to recruit a Site Technician responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing of protection and control systems on major UK transmission and power generation projects. This hands-on, site-based role suits someone confident in electrical installations, cabling, and safety testing who is willing to travel nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Assembly and wiring of electrical protection and control systems using drawings and wiring schedules.
• Installation and termination of multicore, copper, and fibre optic cables.
• Mechanical assembly of cubicles, frameworks, and cable racking.
• Conducting electrical safety checks, insulation resistance, continuity, and point-to-point wiring tests.
• Supporting hardware builds, temporary test rigs, and on-site modifications.
• Working with site supervisors/managers to ensure deliverables and materials are ready.
• Updating issue logs and liaising with design, commissioning, and site engineers to resolve issues.

Experience Required

• Minimum 1 year experience as a site-based wireperson.
• Proven background in E, C & I installations (substation control/protection systems or similar) on National Grid or comparable sites.
• Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, wiring schedules, and technical drawings.
• Willingness to travel and work away at customer sites across the UK.
• Full UK driving licence.
