Role Overview:

As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for ensuring the school’s facilities are maintained to a high standard, supporting daily operations, and contributing to the smooth running of the school. This temporary role is essential in creating a safe, clean, and secure environment for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the school.
  • Ensure the premises are clean, tidy, and ready for use each day.
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing and risk assessments.
  • Secure the building, including locking/unlocking doors and windows and setting alarms.
  • Assist with setting up classrooms and halls for events or activities.
  • Manage deliveries and stock, ensuring supplies are organised and stored appropriately.
  • Respond promptly to any emergencies or urgent maintenance issues.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Caretaker or in a similar facilities/maintenance role.
  • Familiarity with basic maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, electrical, and general DIY.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively manage tasks.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with staff, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures is desirable.
