Job description

King James Academy Royston are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, efficient, flexible and reliable person to work with our dedicated site team in our school rated as Good in our 2024 Ofsted inspection. To work in our busy school, you must be positive, hard‑working and have a strong commitment to high standards of service delivery and customer care. The Site Manager works with the School Operations Manager to ensure facilities and associated resources are maintained to a high quality. They promote high standards of work for the Site Maintenance Team and are an excellent role model. They are the link between the day to day working and maintenance for the Trust and the Academy extended Leadership Team. We require someone who will love and care for our school as much as we do. You will be responsible for security, general maintenance work and repairs, health and safety issues relating to the buildings, cleaning and porterage duties. You need to be able to undertake basic maintenance of heating, lighting, plumbing and security systems to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. It is essential that you are capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying of equipment and materials. The ideal candidate will work a rolling shift between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., occasional weekend work on a 52‑week contract. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be an advantage as travel between sites may be required. The successful candidate will undertake statutory Health and Safety checks including daily/weekly/monthly recording where required, along with being a key holder and attending emergency call‑outs for the school.
