Job description

Galliford Try has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer to support the team on our new £250m M5 J10 Improvements Scheme in Cheltenham.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and assist in project planning and resource coordination.
• Manage subcontractor performance to ensure alignment with project timelines.
• Write, review, and implement Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
• Supervise site engineering team, delegate tasks, and mentor junior engineers.
• Control project schedules, attend coordination meetings, and update progress as required.
• Ensure work complies with project specifications, raise design‑related RFIs and TQs, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Communicate with the commercial team for accurate financial reporting, manage snagging systems, and minimize site waste.

Qualifications

• Work safely and proficiently interpret data and drawings.
• Advanced setting‑out skills, including Level, EDM, and GPS knowledge.
• Relevant civil engineering experience (Highways, Rail, Water, Aviation).
• Strong leadership, delegation, and problem‑solving abilities.
• NVQ Level 3 or higher, SMSTS, CSCS card.
• Expertise in Office 365/CAD.
