Site Engineer - Groundworks + Substructure Contractor

Carrowhugh recruitment is currently recruiting for a site engineer to work on a large battery storage plant in Bridgewater, Somerset. This project is due to run until December 2026. The Sub‑Structure specialist company has been established for over 40 years and takes on projects ranging in value from £5 million to £70 million.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of dealing with similar Groundwork & RC Frame contractor type works and be extremely confident in their ability to set out. There is also a promise of more work for the right candidates as the company has many upcoming projects.

  • Supply of Information

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out – groundworks & structural using GPS, total station & automatic levels
  • Coordinating site drawings
  • Daily liaison with the project team, design team, and subcontractors
  • Monitoring and recording materials, plant, and logistics
  • Implementing QA procedures, concrete pre/post pour checks, RFIs and resolving technical issues
  • Record keeping and reporting
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring safe working practices on site
Requirements
  • Relevant third‑level degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Previous sub‑contractor experience
  • Previous project experience on construction/civil engineering projects (residential, RC frame, retail/commercial, pharma, datacentre, hi‑tech)
  • Proficient in the use of GPS, robotic total station, and levelling equipment
  • Excellent IT skills – knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Microsoft Office
