Shift Team Leader - Power Station

£65,000 + £3,000 Allowance

Alecto Recruitment are partnering with a market leader in the Power Generation sector who operates various facilities across the UK and are looking for a Shift Team Leader to join their team in Kent.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day to day objectives for the site to include operational output, logistics, long term operational and maintenance needs, statutory compliance, resource planning and cost control measures.
  • Identify and achieve key indicators of success, establishing improvement plans and targets for the shift team.
  • Manage and be fully accountable for the core requirements of the SHE Management system.
  • Ensure shift teams are competent both technically and behaviourally and that adequate support is available, organised and supervised where necessary.
  • Provide strong management giving precise delegation and responsibility where needed.
  • Motivate and enthuse all members of the shift team to contribute to a purposeful environment.
  • Ensure full implementation and continued improvement of the Maintenance System.
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • Experienced Engineer/Technician with a completed recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or Training program
  • Holds an NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and health & safety regulations
  • Accredited as a Senior Authorised Person for Safe Systems of Work
  • Proven background in Power Generation facilities or similar processes, with hands-on experience operating high-pressure steam systems; extensive knowledge gained through shift work in continuous process environments, preferably within Energy from Waste or Biomass
  • Skilled in leading operational shift teams, ensuring compliance with procedures, and optimising workforce efficiency in line with Level 3 Documentation requirements
  • Holder of IOSH 3-Day qualification (or equivalent)
  • Flexible and willing to work shifts
  • Self-motivated, with strong task prioritisation and the ability to work independently
  • Effective leader and team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adaptable, with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving
