About The Role

MEADGATE VACANCY SHIFT LEADER 35 HOURS

As a Shift Leader, you will be at the forefront of our convenience stores. Leading by example you will inspire your team to be involved in keeping your store at its best for customers. You will be assisting your store manager with the day-to-day operation, providing excellent customer service and making sure that the store is presentable for the local community.

Your tasks will be wide ranging and varied, such as:

  • To deputize for the Store Manager in their absence
  • To maintain appropriate levels of stock availability to customers through the effective use of stock and order procedures, to maximize the sales within agreed stockholding targets.
  • To maintain the security of the store, its contents, and its staff in accordance with the Food Store Policy & Procedures Manual.
  • To implement and maintain stock ranges in accordance with Society planograms and promotional programmes and ensure such merchandise is well-presented and promotional material effectively displayed.
  • To abide by and carry out Health and Safety Policy
  • To carry out other duties as may be required by the business from time to time.

As a key holder you will be responsible for opening and closing the store, therefore flexibility is key as you will be required to work evenings and weekends.

You will also be required to pass the BIIAB Award for Personal licence holders. The Society is an approved centre for this qualification therefore the training and examination will be in-house.

About You

Due to the fast-paced nature of our stores our Shift Leaders will need to work with enthusiasm and initiative. You will be the point of contact for the team demonstrating the standards required.

You will need to show

  • Previous experience of leading and inspiring a sizable team.
  • An abilityto build relationships with colleagues for getting jobs done
  • A genuine passion and care for customers and their experience in store, demonstrating excellent customer service in any situation.

You will need to be over 18 years of age for a Shift Leader to authorize age-related sales.

We began trading in a small shop on Tindal Street, Chelmsford, and later merged with the Braintree and West Essex Co-operative in the late 1960s.

The Society provides goods and services throughout Mid Essex to both members and customers. Our family of businesses includes food, travel, funerals, and department stores.
