Overview

SHEQ Business Partner – Northwest London – Permanent – £55-60,000

A newly created SHEQ Business Partner opportunity to work for a transport business undergoing rapid transformation, investing in safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence. Its newly established Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) division reflects a proactive approach to managing complex risks, including fire safety, emerging technologies, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the competent advisor on environmental impacts and aspects, ensuring Metroline meets legal and statutory environmental requirements, and liaising with the sustainability team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the implementation of environmental management systems (e.g. ISO 14001), contribute to a positive SHEQ culture, and engage with teams to embed environmental awareness across the business.
  • Conducting audits and inspections related to environmental safety, produce performance data including environmental statistics, and report on compliance and improvement plans to senior management.
  • Building relationships with external bodies such as the Environment Agency, support contractor oversight from an environmental perspective, and contribute to emergency and business continuity planning with environmental considerations.
Qualifications
  • CMIOSH status (or working towards), with substantial experience managing health and safety in complex organisations, and ideally holding IEMA membership or environmental qualification.
  • A strong understanding of infrastructure-related legislation (e.g. asbestos, legionella, fire, CDM), SHEQ management systems, and ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001), with experience in data analysis and safety performance reporting.
  • An exceptional ability to influence, negotiate, and build long-term relationships across diverse teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
  • A proactive, optimistic, and open-minded with strong planning and organisational skills; committed to continuous professional development and capable of driving cultural change in SHEQ practices.
