Overview

(1-3 days a week)

The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer in Barbering to teach courses across a range of levels and to be a personal tutor on the courses in this curriculum area.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses across a range of levels and act as a personal tutor on the barbering curriculum.
  • Design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners, with courses predominantly coursework based.
  • Follow agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures.
  • Be involved in internal verification activities and organise and take part in external verification.
Qualifications
  • Level 3 qualification in barbering including face shaving and massage services with recent barbering industrial experience.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education.
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards) with excellent teaching skills in Barbering.
  • Ability to support, motivate and empathise with young learners, including monitoring their progress.
  • Able to use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning; hardworking and flexible with high personal standards and expectations; good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure to agreed deadlines; receptive to new ideas and initiatives with a creative approach to problem solving; able to work effectively as an individual and as a team member to achieve targets.
