Our client, West Berkshire Council, is looking for an Interim Service Manager Of SEN to join their team.

The Service Manager of SEN is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing strategies and initiatives that promote inclusive education and ensure the provision of high-quality support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This is a high profile and important role. The individual will have responsibility for driving excellence, improving outcomes, and championing the rights and well-being of all children and young people.

The role provides strategic leadership and direction in promoting inclusive education and ensuring the provision of high-quality support for children and young people with SEND. The role emphasises improving services and building relationships with key stakeholders including parents, carers and schools.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction in promoting inclusive education and ensuring high-quality support for children and young people with SEND, with emphasis on improving services and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, and initiatives that drive excellence and champion the rights and well-being of all children and young people, with a specific focus on those with SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective identification, assessment, and provision of support and intervention services.
  • Promote partnership working, staff development, compliance with regulations, and efficient budget management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Safety Valve programme.
  • Ensure that all children and young people have equal opportunities to thrive within an inclusive educational environment.
