The role includes mentoring less experienced vets and making key medical decisions in a well-equipped facility. Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £70,000, exceptional benefits, and long-term career progression opportunities, including potential partnership prospects, are offered. The ideal candidate will thrive in a supportive environment where clinical excellence and teamwork are prioritized.
Senior Veterinary Surgeon - South Wales
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join an independent, RCVS accredited Small Animal Veterinary Hospital and Emergency Service Clinic in South Wales, where clinical excellence, autonomy, and team wellbeing genuinely come first. This purpose built hospital is designed to support outstanding patient care, with separate cat, dog and exotic inpatient facilities, a cat only consult room, bereavement suite, DR X-ray, Doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, a fully equipped dental suite with dental radiography, a comprehensive in-house laboratory, on-site accommodation, and ample parking.
This is a practice that truly values its vets, offering real influence over how the hospital is run and a culture where experience, ideas, and leadership are respected. The team is close knit, diverse, and supportive, with strong clinical interests spanning surgery, imaging, ECC, exotics, and feline medicine. The hospital proudly runs its own in-house out-of-hours service, ensuring exceptional continuity of care for patients and providing vets with meaningful clinical involvement in emergency and critical cases.
The role is ideally suited to a confident and experienced Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys being a senior clinical presence within a hospital environment. Working closely with fellow Senior Vets and the two Directors, the successful candidate will play a key role in mentoring and supporting recent graduates, providing case guidance, and leading by example, while continuing to deliver high quality general practice medicine and surgery.
This position offers long-term career fulfilment for a vet who thrives on clinical autonomy, leadership, and continuity of care, all within a supportive and forward thinking team. For the right individual, there is also the exciting opportunity to be supported in buying into the business, making this not just a role, but a genuine pathway to partnership and influence within a thriving independent hospital!
