Overview

Senior Planning Consultant – Taunton, Somerset (Hybrid Working). A well-established environmental and planning consultancy in the South West is looking to appoint a Senior Planning Consultant to support a growing pipeline of complex and high-impact environmental, waste & water, and renewable energy projects across the UK. This is a hands-on opportunity for a motivated professional with experience in environmental planning to join a respected and expanding team. The role offers diverse project exposure, increasing responsibility, and the chance to make a visible impact in a collaborative consultancy environment.

Responsibilities
  • Join a multi-disciplinary team delivering support on everything from single planning issues to full project management of complex schemes.
  • Contribute to a wide range of environmental and planning services, including planning policy advice, preparation and submission of planning applications, pre-application negotiation and master planning, sustainability and environmental impact assessments, and waste, water and renewable energy-related planning.
  • Lead and manage environmental-based development projects, coordinate submissions, and act as a key client contact.
  • Provide expert guidance across internal teams and support the professional development of junior colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc/MSc in Town Planning, Estate Management, Environmental or related fields
  • Chartered or working toward MRTPI or similar
  • Proven experience in consultancy, regulation, or public sector environments (ideally 5 years+)
  • A strong track record in managing and delivering environmental development projects
  • Working knowledge of environmental planning legislation and procedures
  • Experience conducting desk-based research and site-based assessments
