Overview

Uxbridge College has excellent facilities for the delivery of Engineering, and this is an exciting time to join our highly successful team.

We are seeking a part time (4 days a week) Senior Technician to support students and staff in our Mechanical Engineering section. You would supervise the team of Technicians in Mechanical Engineering, take the lead on Health and Safety issues, consumables, stock and maintain an inventory. You would prepare and maintain equipment for use by lecturing staff and students, demonstrate the use of equipment and support the teaching teams in their delivery of the curriculum. You would also supervise students in the workshop ensuring that they comply with health and safety requirements and good workshop practice.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the team of Technicians in Mechanical Engineering
  • Take the lead on Health and Safety issues, consumables, stock and maintain an inventory
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for use by lecturing staff and students
  • Demonstrate the use of equipment and support the teaching teams in their delivery of the curriculum
  • Supervise students in the workshop ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and good workshop practice
Qualifications
  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience of working as a Technician in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to work effectively with young people aged 16 – 19
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to supervise a team effectively
