About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, confident and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader to join our growing residential children's service. You will play a key frontline role in supporting children and young people to thrive, heal, and achieve positive outcomes in line with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards. As a Senior Support Worker, you will lead shifts, guide staff, model excellent practice, and ensure every child receives safe, nurturing, trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead shifts effectively, ensuring safe staffing and high-quality practice.
  • Provide direct support to children & young people in line with individual care plans, placement plans and risk assessments.
  • Mentor, supervise and guide Support Workers day-to-day.
  • Promote a warm, stable, therapeutic environment where children feel safe, valued, and listened to.
  • Support children with their emotional, social, educational and health needs.
  • Manage incidents, safeguarding concerns and behaviour support using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Record accurate, timely reports, logs, and updates on internal systems.
  • Work closely with the Home Manager, external professionals and the wider team to deliver consistent care.
  • Contribute to Ofsted inspections and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience working in a Children's Residential Care setting.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete).
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed care and behaviour support.
  • Ability to lead shifts confidently and supervise junior staff.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Drivers preferred (not essential).
  • Must be willing to work rota shifts, including sleep-ins, evenings and weekends.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
