Overview

We are looking to recruit a passionate and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our established team at Simonside Court, South Tyneside. We provide quality person-centred care and support to thirteen individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and additional mental health support needs to live exciting and independent lives.

No two days will be the same at this service as we support service users in a supported living environment to follow their passions and engage in a range of activities including cooking/baking, walking, attending community activities including drama, karate and discos and many more.

Responsibilities
  • Supervising, managing and mentoring a team of staff
  • Developing and sustaining warm and trusting relationships with service users
  • Encouraging service users to engage in a range of social activities, both within and outside of their homes
  • Providing personal care, administering medication and lone working
  • Overseeing staff deployment and rotas and working in a flexible manner, including some evenings and weekends
  • Working closely with local multi-disciplinary teams and community-based agencies to provide holistic, wrap-around support
  • Facilitating service user engagement, involvement and peer support
  • Ensuring robust methods of quality monitoring
Qualifications and experience
  • Experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs
  • Experience in supervision or managing staff and resources is preferred
  • Willingness to work towards relevant health and social care qualifications (Degree or NVQ Level 3/4/5)
