Senior Support Worker

Location: Birmingham

Pay: Up to £34, (depending on experience and qualifications)

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Support Worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.

Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping.

Lead shift and deputise home manager.

Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support.

Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects.

Keep essential records to ensure the best possible care.

Where You’ll Do It

The home is a diverse and inclusive home, we have staff members from all walks of life and we enjoy discussing and celebrating all cultures. Our team are warm and fun and have made the home a safe, comfortable, and homely environment for the young person.

Our team have described our young person as funny, cleaver, curious, he is a good person, he enjoys food, he is polite, and he is caring.

He gives us a host of feelings and emotions, these include :
  • Old as he is so knowledgeable and up to date with technology that we sometimes feel old when talking about these topics with him
  • Accomplished as he has come a long way in such a short space of time
  • Proud of his achievements and the work we have put in together as a team to support him

We come together for the young person and each other by attending regular team meetings, having good communication with each other, with the young person and with individuals and agencies outside of the home, we support each other by listening to each other and talking to each other about problems. We discuss with each other how best to support him, making sure we plan things for him before going to him

We have weekly meetings with the young person, we do lots of activities and sometimes come together as a bigger group for him to do things together

We work as a team.

Who You Are

Warm, patient, a great listener and encourager - focused on achieving outcomes for others.

Driver with full UK driving licence, hold a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare and two years working experience in a residential setting.
