Job description

A well‑established independent structural engineering consultancy is seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE) to join its London team.

This role suits a hands‑on structural engineer who enjoys a mix of design, inspections, defect diagnosis and technical reporting, working across a varied portfolio of UK building projects.

The Role
  • Structural design of new and existing buildings (steel, RC, masonry, timber)
  • Structural inspections and condition surveys
  • Defect investigation, diagnosis and technical report writing
  • Structural assessments, appraisals and feasibility studies
  • Liaison with architects, clients, contractors and building control
  • Supporting junior engineers where appropriate

Projects are primarily UK building‑led and include residential, commercial, mixed‑use and refurbishment work.

About You
  • Chartered Structural Engineer status (MIStructE)
  • Experience working on UK building projects
  • Strong understanding of Eurocodes and UK standards
  • Experience with structural inspections, defects and report writing
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Engineers who are newly chartered are welcome, as well as those with several years post‑chartership experience.
