Job Title: Senior Staff Project Engineer

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

Legal Entity: Entergy Services, LLC

Location Options: The Woodlands, TX or New Orleans, LA. Other Entergy service territory locations may be considered based on education and experience. Selected candidates placed as Project Engineer, Sr Lead or Project Engineer Sr Staff based on education, experience, and demonstrated success at the engineering level. Job Summary / Purpose

Entergy is looking for a talented, experienced, and innovative Project Engineer to be part of the Power Development engineering team that will drive innovation and technological advancements to enhance the reliability, affordability, and sustainability of new power generation projects. This position collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and maintain the company’s standards in engineering design for new generation plants (gas and renewables), energy storage projects, and other zero or low carbon technologies. The Project Engineer ensures that engineering products are complete, accurate and constructible for all elements of a project’s scope, promotes a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, implementation of best practices, and application of lessons learned. They coordinate efforts of cross‑functional teams and build effective relationships with key internal/external stakeholders, including contractors, and work directly with multiple Project Managers and Project Controls staff as a technical resource during the development phase.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Promotes safe behavior in accordance with Company expectations and adherence to safety rules on the project.
  • Maintains and develops the Company’s engineering design basis documents used for new generation project development; interfaces with the Capital Projects execution team to incorporate lessons learned.
  • Supports and participates in the technical evaluation of project proposals (solar, wind, battery, thermal power plants, etc.) to ensure conformance to Entergy’s technical standards and project objectives.
  • Participates in state regulatory commission approval activities by providing technical support for the development of submittal documents.
  • Interfaces with regulators as needed.
  • Identifies engineered safety controls and hazard removal during engineering design.
  • Supports/Leads cross‑functional team(s) consisting of internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, EPC Contractors, and Technical Consultants during development of EPC contracts.
  • Ensures documentation of engineering is adequately captured to support audit and prudency review.
  • Supports/Leads Owner team in writing official Records of Decision to capture prudency of major project decisions.
  • Acts as Contract Manager for various engineering contracts outside of the EPC contract scope.
  • Performs/Manages review of engineering design to assure compliance with permits, codes, and utility standards while ensuring design supports strategic, operational and maintenance goals of the project.
  • Coordinates with Project Managers in following the Project Delivery System and ensuring requirements are met and producing associated deliverables.
  • Participates in contractor/vendor selection process with a specific goal of assessing engineering experience, competencies, and capability.
  • Supports/Leads technical open book engineering process with contractors during development of major projects and applies value engineering concepts to ensure projects are competitive.
  • Assures all firms solicited to provide engineering services are duly licensed in the state of the project.
  • Assures Project compliance with NERC and Security Standards.
  • Ensures all documents generated on the project are stored in designated repository.
  • Supports/Leads/Follows change management processes.
Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Advanced degree preferred).

Experience:

  • Project Engineer, Sr: 6+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience; 5+ years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master’s Degree.
  • Project Engineer, Sr Lead: 10+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience; 8+ years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master’s Degree.
  • Project Engineer Sr Staff: 12+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience; 10+ years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master’s Degree.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills with strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering fundamentals within at least one discipline (civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, chemical, construction).
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to power generation.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of power generation facilities and associated QA/QC protocol.
  • Knowledge of permits required for construction and operation of power generation facilities.
  • Proficiency with reviewing, executing, and managing large EPC contracts.
  • Advanced critical thinking skills and capability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Adept in complex problem solving; able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Preferred Credentials

Professional Engineer license and PMP certification.
