Job summary

A leading children's hospital in Greater London is seeking a part-time Senior Staff Nurse for their Outpatients team. The role involves providing clinical leadership and high-quality care to children and families. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with excellent paediatric skills and a commitment to inclusion and diversity. Opportunities for leadership development and teaching are available. Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity within Outpatients for a part‑time, fixed term Senior Staff Nurse to Join our team for 12 months.

Our outpatient department is a busy area of the trust that sees 700 – 900 patients a day. Outpatient encompasses all aspects of care and supports all specialities that work within the trust except for oncology.

We are looking for a registered nurse with excellent paediatric clinical skills, who are well motivated, enthusiastic and has experience of working within a clinical area. Who would liketo develop their leadership skill and will have opportunity to provide teaching.

We would expect you to be visible leader making sure that the child and family have the best possible experience during their visit in the department. Outpatients compose of an established team of nurses and Health Care Assistants who are supportedby nurse practitioners and medical staff.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision ofhigh‑quality nursing care to children, young people and families.
  • To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
  • To assist in the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
  • To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence‑based practice.
  • To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager / Team Leader.
  • To be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice (NHS Commissioning Board Dec 2012).
