Are you ready to take the next step in your cardiology nursing career? We are offering a part-time opportunity for a band 6 senior staff nurse to join A9 and lead by example in our busy and rewarding unit.

A9 - Cardiothoracic Surgical WardA 20 bedded unit caring for patients with complex cardiac and thoracic needs, pre and post surgery. We look after step downs from ITU following extensive cardiac surgery, patients with tracheostomies, and those undergoing our new Enhanced Recovery for Thoracic Surgery programme.

As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will:

  • Provide strong clinical leadership, supporting and inspiring junior colleagues.
  • Ensure safe, high quality, evidence based patient care.Play a key role in service improvement, staff development, and patient experience.
  • Act as a clinical role model in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience in cardiac or acute care.Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

  • Brings enthusiasm, resilience, and a passion for patient centred care.
Main duties of the job
  • Providing high quality, effective, individualised nursing care to patients by assessing their needs and developing, implementing and evaluating care plans without supervision.
  • The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct patient care with supervision from senior staff.
  • To support the ward manager to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients. Maintaining accurate clinical observations of patients, utilising nursing skills and competencies.
  • To manage a group of staff nurse and healthcare support workers within their shifts, assign delegated tasks and responsibility as appropriate.
  • Assisting in the teaching and development of nursing team, healthcare support workers and pre-registration students, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
  • To ensure the compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements for delegated nursing staff and healthcare support workers.
