A leading NHS Trust in Slough is offering a six-month Specialist Clinical Fellowship focused on knee surgery, covering various surgical techniques. The fellowship includes participation in clinics, theatre management, and a research component with guidance to publish findings. Flexible working patterns are available to ensure a healthy work-life balance. This opportunity is ideal for those looking to deepen their expertise and eventually operate independently.
This is a six‑month Specialist Clinical Fellowship covering the full breadth of knee surgery, including soft tissue knee surgery, joint preservation, primary knee arthroplasty, single and multi‑ligament knee surgery, osteotomy, patellofemoral realignment and stabilisation surgery, cartilage repair and replacement surgery, meniscal allograft transplants, partial knee arthroplasty (UKR, PFJR) and total knee arthroplasty. The fellow will be expected to cover acute and elective knee clinics, elective theatre lists, soft tissue and arthroplasty multidisciplinary team meetings, and may participate in acute knee trauma lists such as locked knees or peri‑prosthetic trauma.
The fellowship is designed to provide supervised and independent experience with progression towards autonomy and independent operating lists. The fellow may undertake ad‑hoc fallow lists parallel to another consultant to develop operative and theatre management skills.
The role also requires the production of one research paper related to knee surgery and the knee unit programme, with one‑to‑one guidance to submit to a relevant journal or conference. Cadaveric workshops will be offered to familiarise the fellow with the latest implants and techniques.
