Overview

The Senior Resource Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the Financial Regulatory Consulting services are resourced with the right people, at the right time, and at the right cost. Working closely with the Regulatory Conduct and Financial Crime Directors, they lead workforce planning and end-to-end resource management across multiple concurrent client engagements. The role oversees the allocation of permanent, contract and associate consultants ensuring alignment of skills and capacity with project requirements. Responsibilities include forecasting demand, managing utilisation, overseeing onboarding and compliance, and ensuring effective performance oversight across all resources. Once established, collaborating with wider resourcing support to ensure operational discipline, data-driven planning, and a seamless interface between recruitment, delivery, and finance functions to achieve delivery excellence.

  • Lead end-to-end resource management across all regulatory and financial crime engagements
  • Build and maintain deep talent pools across contract and associate communities
  • Forecast demand, manage capacity, and maintain forward visibility of workforce needs
  • Ensure alignment between resourcing decisions, commercial parameters, and budget constraints
  • Interface closely with recruitment, finance, internal resource management and legal delivery teams to ensure operational cohesion
  • Produce accurate, data-led reporting and recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Build strong internal relationships, ensuring responsive and solution-driven service levels
  • Share client intelligence and market insight with relevant colleagues with the objective of identifying patterns and trends which will have wider client relevance
  • Ensuring acceptable profitability and utilisation on assignments, ensuring financial hygiene of contractors is adhered to and providing an escalation point around WIP, discounting and write-offs
  • Working with Vario's contract team, maintain engagement terms and resource documentation up to date with changing legislation across the Fin reg Consulting function
  • Significant experience in resource management, workforce planning or talent deployment within consulting and legal services or financial-services environments
  • Proven track record managing large, varied resource pools across permanent, contractor, and associate populations
  • Demonstrable experience in utilisation management, forecasting, financial and capacity planning
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership to influence resourcing decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Background in onboarding and compliance processes within regulated industries
  • Exposure to commercial and project-finance considerations, including rate management and margin awareness
  • Experience using resource-management, analytics, or ATS/CRM platforms
  • Experience supporting or managing junior team members
