If you're passionate about clean energy and have a commercial mindset when it comes to underwriting, this is a high-impact role with room to grow.

The Role

You'll be responsible for underwriting and managing a book of renewable energy business with a focus on profitability, risk selection, and long-term portfolio performance. You'll work closely with brokers, risk engineers, actuaries, and leadership, and have the autonomy to build strong relationships and structure sound deals across technologies like:

  • Utility-scale solar (PV and CSP)
  • Onshore and offshore wind
  • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Emerging and hybrid clean energy technologies
Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and price new and renewal business in line with risk appetite and profitability targets.
  • Analyze technical submissions and risk engineering reports to make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Negotiate terms with brokers and develop strong market relationships to drive deal flow.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal, and risk teams to support holistic risk assessment.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to strategic underwriting decisions.
  • Stay on top of market trends, regulatory updates, and innovations in renewable energy tech.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to product development when appropriate.
What I'm Looking For
  • 5-10+ years of underwriting experience, ideally with exposure to renewable energy or power & infrastructure risks.
  • Proven track record of writing profitable business and maintaining strong broker relationships.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy risk, both construction and operational phases.
  • Commercially-minded with excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently, but also collaborative in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ideally, experience with both domestic and international energy markets.
What's On Offer
  • A competitive base salary + bonus + benefits package.
  • A visible role in a growth-focused underwriting team.
  • Flexibility to work remotely or in a hybrid setup.
  • A purpose-driven environment centered on supporting the global energy transition.
