Overview

We are looking for radiographers with post-graduate experience who wish to further develop their skills. This Senior Radiographer role is for those not simply interested in routine, day-to-day radiographer positions. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (CWHFT) supports development of our radiographers and values their contributions as part of a larger service.

CWHFT’s imaging directorate is undergoing transformational change with innovation at the forefront of our work.

We are seeking senior radiographers who wish to work at West Middlesex University Hospital and be surrounded by colleagues who put patients first while investing in themselves and the organisation. The Trust is committed to developing band 6 radiographers by exposing them to all modalities including:

  • General radiography
  • OPG
  • Mammography
  • CT
  • MRI
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Interventional
  • Cardiac catheter Lab
  • Ultrasound
  • BMD
  • Nuclear Medicine, CWH site
Core hours

The successful applicants will be required to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Core hours are on a rotational basis, between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Sunday, including night shifts and on-call. The Trust is willing to consider flexible working requests in the best interests of the applicant and the organisation.

Responsibilities
  1. Approach all situations with curiosity, interest and the potential to innovate.
  2. Demonstrate perspective taking when dealing with patients, customers and fellow staff to ensure all views are understood and considered.
  3. Undertake radiographic duties efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
  4. Ensure all patients receive the best possible standard of care.
  5. Commit to own development by exposure to all necessary modalities at West Middlesex University Hospital or Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
  6. Be conversant with procedures in general and screening rooms, ED, mobile and theatre radiography; proficiency in CT, IR and MRI as required.
  7. Assist with practical training of junior staff and student radiographers, leading by example.
  8. Communicate with other staff to ensure the smooth running of the directorate.
  9. Ensure adherence to Radiation Protection guidelines, IR(ME)R, IRR and local rules.
  10. Adhere to guidelines relating to staff and patient safety in the MRI unit.
  11. Adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and keep working areas clean and safe.
  12. Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes as required.
  13. Proactively develop professionally by proposing QI projects, collecting data and presenting at conferences.
  14. Participate in research studies conducted at CWHFT, including those as part of Imperial College.
  15. Report and record equipment faults and assist with diagnosis and remedy of routine faults.
  16. Participate in on-call and stand-by rotas as required.
  17. Offer initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff.
  18. Comply with and demonstrate safe manual handling techniques.
  19. Comply with safe infection control measures.
  20. Strive to achieve competencies to progress to band 7 radiographer.
  21. Demonstrate flexibility with rostering to ensure a robust and safe imaging service across the Trust.
  22. Maintain commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and attend personal and professional development activities as supported by the department.
  23. Actively participate in periodic professional development reviews in accordance with Trust guidelines.
  24. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.
