The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee all commercial and financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accurate profit and loss reporting through the monthly CVR process. The role includes managing project budgets, valuations, procurement, and commercial forecasting to meet financial targets. This position may include line management responsibilities for other Quantity Surveyors, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development support. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will proactively manage commercial risks, implement mitigation strategies, and contribute to the overall success and profitability of the business.
Provide accurate and timely financial reporting across all assigned projects.
Undertake financial risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
Manage the preparation and submission of valuations, payment certifications, and final accounts in line with contract timelines.
Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to confirm compliance and entitlement.
Ensure the company's commercial position is protected across building contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
Maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Prepare and agree budgets and financial performance forecasts with project and operations teams.
Audit commercial processes to ensure compliance with internal procedures and ISO 9001 & 14001 standards.
Support procurement activities and supply chain development to strengthen delivery capability.
Manage project cash flow, budgets, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
Lead monthly CVR and commercial reporting processes, identifying risks and opportunities.
Secure timely payments, manage contract variations, and ensure financial recovery for all additional works.
Support the estimating team with commercial input for tenders and pricing models.
Line manage and mentor junior commercial staff, conducting appraisals and supporting development plans.
Promote and uphold company policies on Equality, Diversity, Environment, and Health & Safety.
Strong background in construction and social housing refurbishment.
Experienced in applying NHF SOR codes, bills of quantities, task pricing, and open-book commercial models.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and financial reporting systems.
Demonstrated experience managing and developing a commercial team.
Solid understanding and application of JCT, NEC, and NHF standard forms of contract.
BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent degree.
Educated to A-Level, BTEC, or International Baccalaureate standard as a minimum.
Strong commercial and business acumen.
