Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a major civil engineering scheme on the South Coast. The project involves demolition, RC works, highways, service diversions and general remediation works.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of site and project teams.
- Supporting design development and construction planning.
- Work closely with the Contracts Manager to confirm that suitable labour, plant and subcontractor resources are in place, using approved agencies and suppliers.
- Manage site setup, facilities and logistics efficiently, ensuring all plant and equipment is appropriate for the works and operated only by trained and competent personnel.
- Arrange and coordinate material orders, managing deliveries to align with the construction programme and procurement timelines.
- Coordinate with the design team to support the timely issue of drawings and technical information, working through the Design Manager where applicable, particularly on design-and-build schemes.
- Lead and coordinate site teams and subcontractors, driving productivity and performance in line with the overall programme.
- Monitor and enforce standards of workmanship, materials and compliance with specifications, statutory regulations, health and safety and quality requirements.
- Ensure site teams and subcontractors adhere to agreed operational procedures and site standards.
- Maintain regular communication with the Contracts Manager on cost management, resource efficiency and waste control.
Requirements
- Experience as a Project Manager or Senior Site Manager in civil engineering.
- Demonstrable experience leading Design & Build projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement capability, with experience managing client and supply chain relationships.
- Formal qualification in construction or engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Recognised project management qualification (e.g. APM, PMP or similar).
- Sound commercial acumen with proven experience working under NEC forms of contract.
- Ability to proactively identify, manage and exploit risk and opportunity.
- Proven capability to manage projects through the full lifecycle from inception to completion.
- Track record of delivering projects to agreed budgets, programmes and cost targets.
