Senior Project Engineer – Role Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Engineer who will lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams across a single large project or a portfolio of complex projects, through the entire project life cycle from initial study through to delivery and final account. Within this role, you will aim to achieve the most effective business solution for Thames Water by liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Base Location

Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading, RG1 8DB. Some travel will be required to construction sites for both Thames Water projects and those delivered by external customers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support, guidance, assurance and technical management of internal stakeholders and the Design Teams.
  • Manage the Technical Assurance processes and process mapping.
  • Work with the wider business to develop unique solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Obtain necessary support, buy‑in and approval from the wider business as required.
  • Be a representative of the company in engagements with all external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the internal design team follows the required design assurance process.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert with respect to the technical aspects of project delivery.
Qualifications
  • Degree‑level education, preferably with a professional qualification in a related discipline (CEng, MICE, or CIWEM C.WEM).
  • Understanding of Thames Water asset standards, national codes and regulations related to stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships quickly and demonstrated stakeholder engagement.
  • Confidence in technical ability and knowledge, with effective communication to stakeholders.
  • Capability to influence key internal stakeholders and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Significant experience in technical water‑industry related project management.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel, with strong literacy and analytical skills.
