Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to oversee key digital products that support Thames Water’s operational water business.

This role is central to shaping product strategy, setting priorities, and ensuring delivery of outcomes that make a measurable impact.

As Senior Product Manager, you’ll lead a team of Product professionals, manage product roadmaps, and act as the link between business needs and technical delivery. You’ll be responsible for aligning stakeholders, managing risks and dependencies, and making informed trade‑off decisions.

You’ll also play a senior leadership role, steering a key component of our water strategy, and contributing to the business’s wider transformation programmes.

What you will be doing as a Senior Product Manager
  • Lead and support a team of Product Professionals, setting achievable tasks and nurturing their growth in line with company policies and values.
  • Define and own product vision and strategy – working closely with business sponsors to set clear product goals and ensure roadmaps reflect both immediate needs and long‑term priorities.
  • Ensure business drivers are translated into outcomes, supporting the team to create well‑defined requirements, assessing impact against product vision, and ensuring deliverables link to benefit cases.
  • Lead alignment between stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring that expectations and outcomes are fully understood.
  • Take accountability for delivery, managing risks, dependencies, and trade‑offs across time, cost, and quality, and making transparent prioritisation decisions.
  • Champion agile practices, supporting activities such as daily stand‑ups, user stories, backlog management, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Hybrid role with base location of Clearwater Court, Reading, RG1 8DB.
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours a week.
What you should bring to the role
  • Significant experience in Energy or Utilities is required, preferably in water and leakage management.
  • Demonstrable leadership in complex programmes, guiding cross‑functional teams and aligning senior stakeholders with differing views.
  • Strong understanding of agile and lean practices, with experience of continuous delivery across multi‑department or supplier‑led programmes.
  • Strategic thinking and decision‑making under pressure, with the ability to manage risks, costs, and impacts effectively.
Additional skills and experiences it would be great for you to have
  • Comprehensive understanding of the water operational business.
  • Knowledge of water system operations such as service reservoirs, distribution networks, repair and maintenance techniques and methods, customer side leakage, hydraulics, leakage demand and management, and how these interact with each other and linked digital solutions.
What’s in it for you
  • Competitive salary between £75,000 & £95,000 per annum
  • Annual Leave – 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
  • Car Allowance
  • Performance‑related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON
  • Private Medical Health Care
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
