Senior Procurement Specialist

The role of Senior Procurement Specialist will focus on leading procurement activities and supplier management within the nuclear defence sector. The position requires expertise in procurement end-to-end processes, contract negotiation, and supplier development.

Working as a Senior Procurement Specialist you will be working for a leading organisation supporting multiple clients across multiple sectors. This client has multiple sites, and this role is based in Cheshire.

Description

The Senior Procurement Specialist will develop and execute Project Procurement strategies. You will act as a procurement business partner and be involved in end-to-end procurement. You must have experience of supplier management and complex contracting experience (NEC3/4).

  • Lead and manage procurement projects and deliver value across cost, quality, and programme targets.
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing and procurement plans aligned with project and business objectives.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to align goals and drive collaboration.
  • Establish and maintain a robust, innovative supply chain that supports functional and commercial needs.
  • Oversee tendering, supplier evaluation, and contract award processes with full transparency and governance.
  • Mitigate commercial risks and manage post-contract execution to protect business interests.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, QA, Projects, and Corporate Services to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
  • Monitor supplier performance, driving continuous improvement and value creation.
Profile

A successful Senior Procurement Specialist should have:

  • A strong track record in project management including end-to-end procurement, contract, and SRM.
  • A good understanding of cost models/business models particularly in relation to the NEC models, familiarity with accounting practices, commercial audits, forecasting and valuations, and supplier costing models.
  • Experience and implementation of NEC3/4 contracting models is essential.
  • Proactively ensures contract compliance exists and proposes and monitors correction plans to eliminate non‑compliance.
  • Package Management experience of 'cradle to grave' Supply Chain Management would be advantageous.
  • Strong negotiating and strategic planning skills are essential.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ideally a degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • This role requires SC clearance; if you already have it, it would be advantageous.
