Senior Practitioner - Family Safeguarding

Salary: £42,839 + £6,443 market‑enhanced payment, progressing to £47,181 + £6,279; plus £1,000 welcome payment
Contract: Permanent

About the Team

Senior Practitioners join Hertfordshire's multi‑disciplinary Family Safeguarding Teams, working alongside adult‑specialist practitioners from substance misuse, mental health and domestic abuse. The model emphasises motivational interviewing, shared decision‑making, and reflective group supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a protected caseload of complex cases.
  • Provide professional supervision, mentoring and consultation to social workers and practitioners.
  • Oversee assessments, enquiries, court work, and child protection interventions.
  • Promote and embed strengths‑based, motivational interviewing practice within the team.
  • Support service development, quality improvement, and reflective learning.
Person Specification
  • Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Several years' post‑qualifying experience (ideally in safeguarding, assessment, or care proceedings).
  • Leadership and decision‑making skills, with experience of managing risk.
  • Excellent knowledge of childcare legislation, frameworks, and multi‑agency working.
  • Strong communication and reflective practice ability.
