A local authority in the UK is seeking two experienced Senior PMO Officers to lead transformation initiatives. Help shape one of the most ambitious whole-Council transformations in local government.
We're looking for two Senior PMO Officers to play leading roles in our transformation PMO, one focused on Design & Delivery, the other role is working on Performance & Assurance.
Together, these roles support and challenge our workstreams, strengthen programme discipline, and provide the insight and structure needed to deliver change at pace for the communities of Swindon.
You'll work closely with senior leaders, project teams and partners across the Council, bringing your PMO expertise, analytical strength and stakeholder skills to a programme that reaches every service and every community. Please see the skills and experience we are requiring for the role: -
You’ll bring substantial experience in project, programme or PMO roles within complex organisations, ideally in local government or the wider public sector. You’ll have strong knowledge of programme and project management methodologies, business case development, planning and delivery tools, and be confident facilitating workshops, planning sessions and stakeholder meetings. You’ll have excellent communication and influencing skills, including presenting to senior leaders, and be able to manage competing priorities while working at pace. You’ll be proactive, collaborative, skilled in coaching teams, and experienced in embedding continuous improvement. Formal training or qualifications in project/programme management (PRINCE2, MSP, APM or similar) are desirable.
You’ll bring significant experience in performance management, programme assurance or reporting roles, ideally gained in complex transformation environments or the public sector. You’ll have strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and confidently communicate insight to senior leaders. You’ll understand benefits realisation, risk management, forecasting and dependency management, and have experience designing and maintaining assurance frameworks, dashboards and KPIs. You’ll be skilled at producing clear, high-quality reports, spotting issues early and providing evidence-based recommendations. Experience with tools such as Power BI and Excel is essential, and formal qualifications in programme/project/risk management (APM, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile) are desirable.
