Overview

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in Essex in the search for an Interim Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team on an initial 3-month contract. This post can be offered on a hybrid basis with weekly site visits.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of planning applications, primarily Complex Minor and Small Scale Major applications, including Full applications and pre-applications.
  • Work as part of the Development Management team within a local authority planning department, applying relevant planning legislation and policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience as a development management case officer in a local authority planning department or at an equivalent level in private practice.
  • Strong fundamental and technical knowledge of planning legislation and policies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to work in a team and engage with other professionals.
  • Motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration, or related discipline is beneficial, and eligibility for RTPI membership is desirable.
