Maritime Advisory Americas supports our customers in the Americas. Our client base covers ship owners, ports and stakeholders within all ship segments such as cruise, tankers, gas carriers, ferries, supply vessels, navy vessels and fishing vessels, including regulatory bodies such as US Coast Guard, Transport Canada, flag states, etc. We work to ensure that safety is at the core of all developments in the maritime industry.

We are now strengthening our local engagement with the maritime customers in the wider Houston area including vessel owners, charterers, technology providers as well as port infrastructure and terminals. This role blends technical depth with strong consulting skills, supporting clients within technical and operational risk management in Houston. A clear expectation for the position will be to engage with our local Houston‑based customers according to the seller doer model and pulling in support and expertise from the wider MA network when and if needed.

What You’ll Do:

As part of our global Maritime Advisory network, you will:

  • Work collaboratively with multiple regions and as a key member of the DNV Maritime Advisory network to deliver diverse projects across a range of practices and areas of expertise such as:
  • Technical and operational risk assessments (i.e., performing qualitative risk analyses, using tools such as HAZID, HAZOP, FME(C)A, Bow‑tie analysis, etc.).
  • Mapping and improvement of safety management and culture.
  • Incident investigations and organizational learning.
  • Decarbonization services related to meeting regulatory and charters’ requirements.
  • Risk assessments and consultancy services related to alternative fuels and alternative design (e.g. methanol, hydrogen, ammonia, CCS, etc.).
  • Project and schedule risk management.
  • Be responsible for project management of multiple projects and resources from different regions.
  • Be proactive in marketing, sales and business development related to the above as per normal job expectations for senior / principal consultant.

What Is Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in marine technology, machinery, energy, finance, organizational psychology, or other relevant fields.
  • 5+ years of experience with risk assessment techniques, preferably related to the maritime/offshore industry.
  • An already existing professional network with maritime and offshore clients in the wider Houston area considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, to solve complex technical challenges and work on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing and presentations.
  • A proactive, service‑minded, and collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or in teams.
  • Travel approx. 10% (domestic and/or International).
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
