The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead the delivery of facilities management services across multiple hospital sites within West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

In this pivotal role, you will provide visible, proactive leadership 365 days a year, ensuring our services are safe, compliant and consistently high performing. You’ll inspire and develop a large, diverse team, build trusted relationships with senior NHS stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across all service lines.

Working on a 5/7 rota, you’ll thrive in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing healthcare environment where your adaptability, resilience and strategic thinking will be key to success.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading all operational aspects of facilities management across multiple hospital sites.
• Ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, quality standards and client satisfaction are consistently achieved.
• Motivating, developing and supporting a large multi‑service team to deliver outstanding service every day.
• Building strong, collaborative relationships with senior NHS stakeholders.
• Driving continuous improvement using data, KPIs and performance insights.
• Managing resources effectively to meet commercial goals and support contract growth.
• Responding with agility to operational challenges in a dynamic healthcare setting.
• Providing consistent leadership across a 5/7 working pattern.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience managing large, multi‑service, multi‑site operational teams within healthcare.
• Strong background in contract delivery, service improvement and KPI management.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including HR process application and team development.
• Evidence of high colleague engagement and a passion for developing people.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, ideally within NHS environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance quality, safety and financial performance.
• Experience delivering change programmes and working within brand guidelines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Full understanding of current Health & Safety and food safety regulations.
• Experience in risk management, analysis and reduction.
• Proven ability to manage senior‑level third‑party relationships.
