Senior Nurse/Lead Nurse for Critical care Education

You will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, including the country's leading critical care research and development team, the Unit psychologist, the authors of Europe's best-selling critical care nursing textbook, experts in quality improvement and human factors; led by our Matron and supported by a dedicated education team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for high‑quality continuing professional development (CPD) for nurses on Critical Care at UCLH. The post holder will lead the design and development of the CPD offer on Critical Care at UCLH, in response to critical care expansion and the development of new roles on to critical care to future proof workforce retention.

The post holder will also work under the direction of the Critical Care Senior Matron to develop and lead a Critical Care Nurse Education Strategy which is aligned to the new funding model by HEE. Key areas of focus are specialist CPD education (qualification in specialism) and career pathways specific to critical care. The post holder will work with the Senior Matron to develop and deliver the education strategy and coherent CPD and post‑graduate career pathways.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the development of patient‑focussed clinical practice is supported via the practice development structure and its network of clinical practice facilitators (CPFs) in the delivery of excellence in nursing care and the objectives of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy in relation to critical care nursing.

The post holder will also contribute to the promotion of UCLH as a centre of excellence for nursing practice and research, fostering a culture that values staff, recognises achievement and enables career progression and succession planning.
