We are seeking a motivated and conscientious individual who can adapt flexibly, communicate effectively, and work with young babies, children and their families.

This role requires excellent teamwork skills, the ability to work independently, and strong organisational capabilities. Main Duties of the Job

The Welsh Newborn Hearing Screening service operates across four hospitals in the West Surrey area. Your responsibilities include:

  • Participate in hearing screening of newborn babies under the supervision of the site lead, collecting and accurately recording clinical and test data to meet national quality standards.
  • Directly handle newborn babies and engage with parents.
  • Line‑manage teams and provide support during the absence of the management team, covering up to six days as required.
  • Represent site leads and NHSP managers in their absence.
  • Ensure sufficient staffing coverage by overseeing rosters and submitting shift requests online.
  • Monitor team performance, conduct annual one‑to‑ones, and complete competency assessments.

The post is responsible for screening newborn babies born or resident in the West Surrey ICB areas. Babies will be screened in hospitals and designated community clinics, with the post holder based at Ashford & St. Peters Hospital, the Royal Surrey County Hospital, and covering community clinics at Woking and Ashford.
