Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Monitoring Surveyor to join Shawbrook Bank's specialist team, providing crucial in-house Independent Monitoring Surveyor expertise across our Development Finance and Specialty Finance portfolios.

This pivotal position will be instrumental in maintaining robust risk management standards throughout our development finance operations. The successful candidate will serve as a technical specialist, identifying potential issues before they impact project timelines or budgets, including:

  • Early detection of project delays and cost overruns
  • Verification of compliance with planning requirements and building regulations
  • Assessment of external market factors that could affect development viability

Working collaboratively with both origination and portfolio management teams, you will conduct regular site visits to monitor development progress, provide expert technical consultation across multiple bank departments and contribute to effective portfolio management through detailed risk assessment

This is an ideal opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with an in-depth knowledge of development finance, who is looking to move in to the Banking sector.

Qualifications
  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying or another RICS accredited qualification is preferred, but not essential
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the development finance market with first-hand experience of the preparation of IMS reports or working as a QS/CM/PM on residential developments.
  • Previous experience working with a Developer, Consultancy or Main Contractor/Construction Manager in a QS/Commercial Management/Project Management role.
  • Previous experience of working as an Independent Monitoring Surveyor.
  • Strong analytical skills, including good knowledge of Excel
