ROLE DEFINITION

The Senior MEP Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and presenting integrated mechanical and electrical programmes as part of competitive tenders. Working closely with Pre-construction, Estimating, Design, and Delivery Teams, the role will ensure that M&E planning aligns with the overall bid strategy, showcases buildability, and supports win themes to secure new projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review Tender Documentation received to attain a clear understanding of project scope, tender deliverables, project logistical constraints and any client specific requirements raising any technical questions vis the formal TQ RFI process.
  • Attend and contribute to all Bid Meetings (Kick Off, Mid Bid, Post Tender etc.).
  • Develop detailed and comprehensive labour loaded mechanical and electrical construction programmes and timelines during the tendering stage utilising Schedule package programmes such as Asta PowerProject, Microsoft project or Primavera P6.
  • Provide presentation output data and narration for tender submissions and interviews such as Critical Path Analysis, Labour Histograms, Project Schedule 3rd party dependencies, Schedule Risk and Mitigation and Schedule Milestone analysis.
  • Interrogate tender construction programmes and integrate M&E sequences within the overall project programme using planning software (Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, or Microsoft Project).
  • Collaborate with estimators, design managers, commercial and technical leads to ensure planning assumptions and durations are accurate and achievable referring to industry available data where required.
  • Contribute to tender submissions, presentations, and client interviews, providing programme narrative and logic, attending interview and workshop meetings as required.
  • Undertake methodology and logistical reviews and buildability assessments specific to M&E elements contributing innovation ideas and methodology where possible (Modular Construction for example).
  • Analyse project risks related to schedule, labour, materials, plant, equipment and external factors in relation to M&E systems and recommend corrective actions and mitigation strategies to address potential delays or issues before tender submission.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and senior management regarding tender schedule and deliverables status, timeline, and risks.
  • Provide planning support for value engineering and alternative solutions during the bid stage.
  • Participate in site visits and consultations to gather planning intelligence.
  • Support transition of the bid programme to delivery planning once the project is secured.
  • Maintain awareness of current UK building regulations, construction standards, and industry trends within M&E.
  • Provide help and support to the Bid Support Team as and when required and support with bid administration and documents in line with PhoenixME process in preparation for submission.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
  • Knowledge of Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6 and Microsoft project scheduling software packages
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Understanding of a variety of document electronic document management systems such as Aconex, Kahua, Asite etc.
  • Verbal, written and presenting (to an audience) communication skills.
Desirable
  • Mission Critical / Data Centre Experience
  • Previous role in MEP Pre-Construction / Tendering and understanding of the tender process
  • Attention to detail to ensure documents are accurate / technically correct to project requirements.
  • Previous experience with working with people at all levels e.g. Clients, Directors and Departmental Managers and Heads
  • Industry-specific technical knowledge, including understanding of industry terms, policies and processes.
  • Good understanding of MEP Services and construction methodology.
  • Good understanding of Modern methods of Construction (DfMA / Pre-Fabrication etc)
