Senior Member Development Officer

Location: East Barnet & home working

Salary: £29,000, up to £32,000 (depending on experience)

Vacancy Type: 36-month fixed term contract, with potential extension subject to funding

Hours: Full-time/part-time/job share - up to 35hrs per week (plus statutory breaks) Occasionally working outside of standard working hours, including evenings and weekends, with time off in lieu offered where applicable

The Foundation supports over 190 members (charities, community groups and social enterprises) who deliver positive activities and vital support services to children and young people in the London Borough of Barnet.

The Role

The Foundation has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Member Development Officer to join their team. This role is ideally suited for someone with a passion for improving the lives of young people and their families through supporting their members. Equally, someone who is skilled at project management, as well as relationship building will find this role exciting & fulfilling.

As part of the Member Development Team (MDT) you will be working closely with the Head of Member Development and other staff members to help support and develop their members across Barnet, individually and collectively.

This role will focus on the project management of the HAF project in partnership with Barnet Council's HAF delivery team, known locally as BACE Holidays.

The successful candidate will take responsibility and manage all aspects of the HAF with support from the Head of Member Development.

Alongside delivery of the HAF project, you will be responsible for delivering parts of the core member offer and to identify solutions and development opportunities for the membership.

The Foundation have identified a number of digital tools that will assist the membership and as part of the team you will be expected to promote and develop the use of these by the members.

To support and implement strategies to achieve sustainable, long-term contract-winning and other income generation for the children and young people sector in Barnet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Onboarding new members.
  • Offering signposting, advice and guidance.
  • Connecting them to other members and supporting to create effective partnerships.
  • Supporting members to develop their organisation or their offer.
  • Identifying funding needs and signposting to the Fundraising Manager
  • Helping with governance enquiries.
  • Conducting visits, including grant monitoring visits.
  • Project Management of the HAF project.
  • Attend meetings with Barnet Council to discuss, plan and deliver HAF activities - Support membership organisations with applications
  • Run workshops or presentations around the project.
  • Support successful membership organisations by researching and arranging training
  • Request and collate key documentation required for successful organisations.
  • Arrange and coordinate site visits.
  • Support organisations with Monitoring and Evaluation of activities.
  • Ensure submissions of Monitoring and Evaluation documentation and numbers are in line with application expectations. Arrange support where required.
  • Supporting the MDT and the Head of Community Services to arrange and manage network meetings including their CYP Network meeting and others as necessary.
  • Work with the team to identify bidding opportunities for individual and partnership bids. Support the preparation, writing and submission of tenders in collaboration with members and other Staff. Ensuring bids meet the requirements of commissioners/funders.
  • Develop and manage effective, robust working relationships with key agencies from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • Keep records of members, visits and opportunities on the organisational CRM System (Salesforce)
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to demonstrate suitable experience within the sector.
  • Experience in community development support/providing capacity building to organisations
  • Financial literacy and experience with project budgets.
  • Understanding and experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and building successful partnerships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with people at all levels, in person and through online meetings.
  • The role will require travel during school half-term holidays. A valid driving license and the ability to travel independently are essential.
  • Experience of using digital tracking tools, such as excel, project or Monday
Desirable
  • Knowledge of/ experience of, running a Holiday Activity Fund project.
  • A demonstrable understanding of current voluntary and community sector concerns.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience of servicing and working to a project board that includes a number of voluntary and community organisations.
  • Marketing and event organisation experience.
