Overview

Location: The Lister Hospital, City of Westminster, London, Greater London, England SW1W

Job Title: Senior Medical Secretary

Contract: Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week

Shift times: Mon-Fri, 8-4 or 9-5 (shifts vary depending on clinics). Hybrid working available post probation, subject to clinics.

Salary: Competitive

What you'll do
  • Provide full secretarial support to the Consultant (including audio-typing of clinical/non-clinical material, reports, etc.).
  • Manage patient appointments and liaise with patients and hospital staff to facilitate this.
  • Receive new patient referrals and arrange relevant appointments across various hospital departments.
  • Register new patients and ensure that all patient records are kept up to date.
  • Respond to written and verbal queries from patients and relatives, escalating to the consultants if required.
  • Undertake any other duties as called upon by the Medical Secretary Manager, Deputy Medical Secretary Manager or Supervisor.
  • Liaise with consultants and other secretaries to ensure the smooth running of Out-Patients Clinics.
What you'll bring
  • Substantial previous Medical Secretarial experience is essential.
  • Significant understanding of Medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate typing and proofreading skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous knowledge of DGL Practice Manager and Meditech preferred.
