Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer

A leading engineering organisation is seeking a highly skilled senior mechanical equipment engineer to support major industrial projects across energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, and related sectors. The role involves delivering mechanical equipment engineering from concept through detailed design, providing technical leadership, and resolving complex engineering challenges.

The successful candidate will work on both rotating and static equipment, collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and third‑party stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop equipment specifications and execute engineering activities for rotating and static equipment, including compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, diaphragm, screw), turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, separators, columns, and fired heaters.
  • Perform engineering calculations and verify calculations completed by others.
  • Resolve complex engineering issues and provide innovative, multidisciplinary technical solutions.
  • Review and approve supplier documentation, drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Act as the primary engineering point of contact for vendors.
  • Conduct supplier shop testing, witness performance tests, and complete pre‑shipment inspections.
  • Support commissioning and start‑up activities for mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues occurring in fabrication shops or during field operation.
  • Evaluate total cost of ownership, considering capital, reliability, maintenance, and operational factors.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical equipment engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment: compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, blowers, cooling towers, and related systems.
  • Background in industrial gases, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (ASME, API, PIP, CGA, ANSI, ASTM, OSHA).
  • High attention to detail and ability to work effectively within tight timelines.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proactive, positive mindset and strong teamwork skills.
